Root Cyclone™ technology
Conventional vacuums rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. But when you start to use some bagged machines, dust can clog the tiny holes in the bag. Some ordinary bagless vacuums work in a similar way. They use a central filter to trap fine dust, which can clog too. Suction fades, leaving dust and dirt behind in your home.
Dyson's patented Root Cyclone™ technology doesn’t rely on a bag to trap dust and dirt. Instead, it spins the air so fast that centrifugal forces up to 100,000 times the force of gravity fling dust and dirt out of the air and straight into the clear bin. And that includes the fine dust that can restrict airflow in some ordinary bagless vacuums. Unlike some other vacuums, Dyson machines don't lose suction.

Ball™ technology for upright vacuums
Conventional upright vacuum cleaners use fixed wheels. But wheeled vacuums can be awkward to steer and can make you work a lot harder than you need to. All that back and forth around corners and obstacles. Ball™ technology is a radical alternative to fixed wheels. Dyson Ball™ vacuums ride on a ball, which pivots on itself so you can instantly change direction with just a turn of the wrist.

Mini turbine head
The Dyson Mini turbine head has an air-driven brush bar that removes pet hair and dirt from tight spaces like upholstery, stairs and inside the car. Tiny bristles catch fine hair and fibers. A clean air turbine reduces bulk and weight and prevents obstructions. The cover is made from tough polycarbonate.

Hygienic and quick to empty
Emptying the bin on a Dyson vacuum is quick and hygienic. Just press the button to release the dirt. The bin is clear, so you can see when it needs emptying - and how much dust, dirt and pet hair the machine has captured. Dyson vacuums were the first to have clear bins - despite market researchers insisting it was a bad idea. Now clear bins are everywhere (though not all are made from the same ABS polycarbonate as riot shields, like Dyson bins).

Ultra-lightweight and compact
A DC24 machine weighs just 5.4kg. It's easy to carry, and the handle compresses to store in tight spaces. It may be small, but it's tough - made from the same materials used in crash helmets and riot shields. And it performs like a full-size Dyson vacuum.

Captures allergens. Expels cleaner air.
Ordinary vacuums can’t always retain all the dust they remove – so some of them vent some of it back into your room in the air they expel. That’s the reason for the dusty, electrical smell. Dyson cyclones can capture microscopic particles such as pollen, mold and bacteria.

Reversible wand
The wand reverses to reach awkward areas more easily and with a better grip. Tools click-fit to the end of the wand to give more options for cleaning high or hard-to-reach places.

Motorized brush bar
Stiff nylon bristles spin at up to 90 times per second to agitate carpet pile and dislodge ground-in dirt and pet hair. The brush bar can be turned off to protect delicate rugs and hard floors. The button is above the clear bin – no need to bend down to find it.

Washable HEPA filter
Dyson cyclones are able to extract microscopic particles including common household allergens such as pollen and mold. But there’s also a HEPA filter as an extra precaution for people with asthma and allergies. It won’t need replacing – just give it a wash according to the instructions that come with the machine.
